John Cammett


John Cammett is the founding donor of the Breakthrough T1D Barbara Dewey Cammett Center of Excellence in New England, which was named in honor of his late mother. He is also one of the founding donors of Breakthrough T1D’s Project ACT (Accelerate Cell Therapies), an initiative aimed at accelerating the delivery of islet cell therapies as cures for T1D, faster. John has served as a member of the Breakthrough T1D Finance Committee, is a current member of Breakthrough T1D’s Campaign Cabinet, and a member of two Breakthrough T1D giving societies: BETA Society and One Society. In recognition of being a volunteer leader who pioneers projects aimed at improving life for people with T1D, he received the 2022 Breakthrough T1D John Brady Award for Innovation. He is a lifelong entrepreneur and co-founder of Realterm, a private equity firm specializing in the development, acquisition and management of transportation real estate assets serving the logistics industry and the global supply chain. John has an extensive portfolio of early-stage investments in the Medical Device, Climate Tech, Healthcare Technology, and Property Technology sectors. He sits on multiple boards of these portfolio companies where he is a major shareholder. John was diagnosed with T1D at age 32—the same age his late mother Barbara was when she was diagnosed in 1963. John graduated from Harvard University with a degree in engineering and applied sciences.
