Karen Jordan
Karen Jordan is the incoming Chair of Breakthrough T1D’s International Board of Directors (IBOD)—beginning a two-year term on July 1, 2026—where she has chaired the Finance and Investment Committee and the Research Committee. She has also chaired the Northern California Chapter Board. She brings extensive leadership experience in nonprofit governance and healthcare, including board service with Stanford Health Care and Stroke Onward. She has been honored as the inaugural recipient of Breakthrough T1D’s John Brady Award for Innovation and the Stanford University Governor’s Award. Her commitment to the mission began in 2008 when her daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes—a disease Karen knows firsthand, having received her own diagnosis in 2023. Karen earned her B.A. in Economics and Business from UCLA, her MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a certificate from Stanford’s Genomics and Genetics Program. She has professional experience as an investment banker and working with the Mayor’s Office in Los Angeles.
