Grant Beard is a recent past Chair of Breakthrough T1D’s International Board of Directors (IBOD), having served on the T1D Fund Board since its inception until becoming IBOD Chair, and currently serves on the Nominating & Governance Committee, with deep expertise in private equity and industrial investment. He is an active LP and co-investor at Blue Point Capital Partners and Covington Capital, both firms specializing in buying, improving, and building industrial product and service companies. He also serves as Senior Advisor to Center Rock Capital Partners and chairs the boards of TA Systems and Advanced Energy Industries (NASDAQ). Grant previously served as President of Breakthrough T1D’s Metro Detroit/Southeast Michigan Chapter Board of Directors, and he and his wife Susan received the Jane Jospey Cobb Promise Award in 2016 for distinguished service advancing Breakthrough T1D’s mission. Grant and Susan have been Breakthrough T1D volunteer leaders since 2006, when their daughter Emily was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at age 14. He earned his MBA and B.S. in Finance from Miami University and an M.A. in International Economics from the University of Detroit. He also serves on the boards of directors of Gage Industries, Grand Traverse Plastics, LINC Distribution, TAS Environmental, Tiseo Paving, and Wolverine Advanced Materials.
