Chairman of the JDRF T1D Fund, Sean Doherty shares the success of the Fund and the power and potential of the venture philanthropy model in an interview with the IVY podcast, moderated by IVY CEO and YPO Metro NY Chapter Chair Emeritus Beri Meric.

Sean discussed how the T1D Fund’s strategy is based on the fundamental recognition that charitable contributions can only be a drop in the bucket of the resources required to cure disease. Venture philanthropies like the T1D Fund attract private capital by sharing their scientific knowledge and deep-rooted ties to the broader advocacy and scientific research communities with private investors that partner with them.  Sean shared the T1D Fund’s vision that these innovative efforts will ultimately convince pharmaceutical companies that it is in their economic interest to invest the billions of dollars required to deliver cure therapies to patients living with type one diabetes.
